Ken Stringfellow: Danzig in the Moonlight

Once in awhile on Danzig in the Moonlight, Stringfellow will hit it out of the park, but not often enough to overturn his low batting average.

Art Garfunkel: The Singer

At 28 tracks, The Singer's batting average isn't too spectacular.

Ben Folds Five: The Sound of the Life of the Mind

The Memories: The Memories

To put it simply, this record sounds like like it was made by a bunch of kids who barely have any idea what they're doing or where it's coming from. But it's that impetuous, unseasoned enthusiasm that makes pop music like this so personal and engaging.

Santana: Shape Shifter

In spite of its title, Carlos and company don't really do a lot of shape-shifting on this roundly insipid record. It's depressing that Santana, an artist who is so clearly capable of creating frenetic, passionate - sexy even - music, has produced something so soullessly inert.

Girls, Girls, Girls, Etc.: Elvis Costello - "Living in Paradise"

This song's inconvenient placement in the This Year's Model track sequence might in part be responsible for its relative anonymity.

Girls, Girls, Girls, Etc.: Elvis Costello - "Lip Service"

The culmination of Costello's Beatles fixation, "Lip Service" is a comparatively tame power pop number that rounds out the otherwise threatening second side of This Year's Model
