Hot on the heels of his Superbowl halftime appearance, it’s been announced that Bruce Springsteen will headline the 2009 edition of music festival mainstay Bonnaroo. The festival locked in an exclusive here as this will be Springsteen’s only North American festival performance in 2009. The promoters also named jam band faves Phish for their only festival performance of 2009. In an increasingly crowded festival marketplace and facing down a disastrous economy, these moves should ensure Bonnaroo outperforms much of its competition this summer.

As always Bonnaroo will take place on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles south of Nashville. This year the event runs from June 11 through the 14th. Tickets go on sale exclusively through www.bonnaroo.com on Saturday, February 7 at 12:00 PM Eastern.
