A Brief History of Everything Tour 2017

Last summer, when Counting Crows played at the new Coney Island amphitheater venue, I thought lead singer Adam Duritz missed a great opportunity to perform “Einstein on the Beach” one of my favorite songs from the band. But it was a small mark against an otherwise incredibly fun evening. Counting Crows had Rob Thomas (who is also the lead singer of Matchbox 20 and perhaps most famous for singing Santana’s “Smooth”) open for them for shows all around the U.S. Thomas had remarked at how his band, Matchbox 20 had done covers of Crows’ songs previously. A few nights after the Coney Island show, Thomas and Duritz were at the small venue Bowery Electric doing songs as part of the Outlaw Roadshow. Some videos are posted below and you can see the closeness of the two singers.

This summer those buddies are getting together again for another exciting string of shows. The press release exploits their mutual love,

“No matter what I will ever do, nothing feels like home as much as playing these songs with these guys and it never will,“ says Matchbox Twenty lead singer-songwriter Rob Thomas. “And I can’t wait to spend another summer out there on the road with the Crows.”  Thomas previously teamed with Counting Crows for a hugely successful 2016 summer co-headline tour.

“To be honest, we took a vote after last year and decided to spend every summer with Rob from now on,” says Counting Crows’ Adam Duritz. “Can. Not. Wait.”

Check out photos from the Coney Island show, tour dates and the aforementioned videos below. And Duritz, if you are seeing this, please perform “Einstein” at Jones Beach. Presale tickets and VIP packages for “A Brief History of Everything Tour 2017” will be available to members of both bands’ fan clubs beginning Tuesday, March 28th and to the general public starting Friday, March 31st.
