Hinds – “Garden” (Singles Going Steady)

Dustin Ragucos: It’s garage rock with a music video that has the aesthetic of Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom. Whoopee. Let this band rant and rave all afternoon long because it’s a nice tune to go along with the sound of irritated hallway footsteps at the workplace. Everyone at work’s pissed off, but Hinds suck out your madness and utter it into your ears before your brain channels something that could get you fired. Six Wilhelm screams out of ten. [6/10]

Kevin Korber: There are a lot of bands playing this same sort of garage-pop, and Hinds do very little to distinguish themselves on this song. That having been said, “Garden” is much better than other songs of its ilk, so this Madrid four-piece may have a longer shelf-life than, say, Vivian Girls. [6/10]

John Garratt: The distorted vocal filter is the new auto-tune — it masks paper-thin ideas. If you’re going to make a song like this last for 4:45, then how about you share that bottle with us as well? [2/10]
