Erase Errata member Jenny Hoyston keeps busy with her latest album of lo-fi recordings. This is especially the case during “Structure” and the pretty “Kill Those Thoughts About” which are both examples of Velvet Underground-inspired rock. A few of these selections are a bit artsy fartsy, especially “Break Apart, Reattach”, which could have been created by Kraftwerk or more recently Fischerspooner. Although the guitar work during “Spell D-O-G” recalls the best of The Strokes circa Is This It, Hoyston mixes this record up with lean, minimal electro-pop ditties such as “Bring Back Art”, which screams to be covered by Peaches. While highlights are fleeting at times, a song like “Everyone’s Alone” seems to saunter along quite beautifully with a carefree, Feist-like attitude. Several of the songs clock under two minutes, but it doesn’t deter from the cleverness of “Ruff…Ruff…/Rainbow City” and the sheer honesty of the stark “Send the Angels”.
