Junk Science: Gran’Dad’s Nerve Tonic

Junk Science
Gran'dad's Nerve Tonic
Definitive Jux
2007-10-23

The Definitive Jux record label pretty much has the market cornered on white boy hip-hop from the East Coast. The label who brought us both the rhymes and production skills of El-P as well as the rhythmic flow of Aesop Rock, has yet another witty rhyme-slinger to add to its roster. Junk Science consists of the airtight, slapstick delivery of Baje One while DJ Snafu provides the old school samples and beats. Junk Science may not be as prolific or insightful as the scathing work of their labelmates, but Baje’s smooth, genuine delivery is a perfect fit for this burgeoning label, and exemplifies their penchant for finding unique talent. The comedic aspect of Gran’Dad’s Nerve Tonic may wear thin at some points but their is no doubt that this duo has a promising career of hell-raising and dope rhyming ahead of them.
