Lindstrøm – “Closing Shot” (Singles Going Steady)

An unrepentant reach for pure synth pleasure, "Closing Shot" succeeds on most all accounts.

Andrew Paschal: An unrepentant reach for pure synth pleasure, “Closing Shot” succeeds on most all accounts. I was hooked from the first few seconds and Lindstrøm held my attention throughout the five-minute running time. It’s all here, from the playful bass line to the delectable electronic gradients to the game show synth-stabs. Lindstrøm isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel here, he’s just trying to help us have a good time and not take things too seriously. [8/10]

Adriane Pontecorvo: Bouncy, middle-of-the-road electronica, sans both bark and bite. “Closing Shot” is sugar, sugar, and more sugar, a piece of fluff for a particularly pleasant aerobics class or an optimistic power walk. There’s nothing particularly interesting, offensive, or edgy about it; it’s a big, synth-heavy blank. [4/10]

Scott Zuppardo: No dance floor will be safe from this latest disco-fied jam. Purveying a jostling bass and drum groove as an open road for synths and then more synths. Uplifting and infectious… [8/10]
