If you were to put on an early album by Sum 41 and then listen to “Choked and Charmed”, the first song on this album by Love Me Destroyer, you would believe you were in some time warp. A very nice time warp of punk rock and angst-riddled lyrics, but a time warp nonetheless. The group rarely misses the mark early on, whether it is the tight but adventurous Warped Tour-ready “F.U.I.Q.” and the delectable “Not If You Were the Last Sinner on Earth”, which evokes Taking Back Sunday. Perhaps the gem out of all of these though has to be the endearing, energetic title track that sounds like a composed and refined Alexisonfire. The consistency of the songs is the album’s biggest selling point, especially with the relentless guitar-fuelled “Bleed It Now”, although “The Art of Hitting a One Iron” is run-of-the-mill.
