Stan Getz – “Aguas de Março” and “O Grande Amor” (audio) (premiere)

Resonance Records is releasing two sublime Stan Getz recordings on February 19th, Getz/Gilberto ’76, featuring never before released live sessions from Getz and João Gilberto from a series of shows in San Francisco on May 11-16, 1976, and Moments in Time, which includes recordings from the same time period of Getz’s band playing live at the Keystone Korner the same week as Getz/Gilberto ’76.

Getz/Gilberto ‘76‘s “Aguas de Marco”: In this classic bossa nova tune composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim, legendary Brazilian singer and guitarist João Gilberto mesmerizes his audience with “Aguas de Março” (Portuguese for “The Waters of March”). Once voted as Brazil’s all-time best songs “Aguas de Março” is featured on the upcoming February 19th release. This song is one among 13 on an album of never-before-released tracks recorded during a weeklong engagement at the legendary San Francisco jazz club Keystone Korner in 1976, showcasing João Gilberto with saxophone icon Stan Getz and his rhythm section of pianist Joanne Brackeen, bassist Clint Houston and drummer Billy Hart.”

Moments in Time‘s “O Grande Amor”: “This never-before-released 1976 recording of “O Grande Amor” composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim, features iconic tenor saxophonist Stan Getz with his dynamic rhythm section pianist Joanne Brackeen, bassist Clint Houston and drummer Billy Hart and became a staple in Getz’s repertoire. Captured during a week of performances with special guest João Gilberto at the legendary San Francisco jazz club Keystone Korner, “O Grande Amor” is one among eight in an album of never-before-released tracks featuring the Stan Getz Quartet.”
