If The Krinkles could just add a bit more raggedness to these pop songs, they would be far better off. While the hooks are aplenty and the ear candy in abundance, songs like the punchy “Dirty Girl” are good but not the sort that makes one leap out of their chair and hit the replay button. A bit more sullen is “Stay With Me” but things finally hit their mark with “Best Friend”, a song that OK Go should drool over. Fans of Sloan would also lap up “Blinded by Love” but a tune like “Sweet on You” is not that sweet at all. In fact it leaves a sour taste in one’s mouth. Thankfully the highlight might be “Listen to the Future” and “I Want You”, the latter of which brings The Knack to mind. The homestretch includes a few demos and live tracks, but its best foot forward is exemplified during the tight, punchy “Today Is the Day” and a cover of Rick Springfield’s “Love Is Alright Tonight”.
