The Mutiny: The Mutiny

The Mutiny
The Mutiny
self-released

This three-song effort is from a band that has got the attention of some notable people across the pond, including that Alan McGee fellow and also the NME. Not that it is a stairway to success, but they must be doing something right to get noticed. And this three-track release is definitely right. No bass, but who needs it when they’ve got a catchy, rampant, yet still meticulous piece of guitar rock. on “Whacked Out!”, lead singer and guitarist Becky Thompson shrieks and at times screams the lines but not to the point of annoyance or overkill A better effort comes during “Running With Scissors”, with its sinewy, garage-like riff before they turn up the voltage briefly for the chorus. The “sampler” ends with “Space Invader” that brings to mind Blondie fronting The Ramones or MC5. That’s it for this one, but it’s enough to get one’s arse in gear!
