There’s nothing very bad about Woolfy Vs. Projections’s The Astral Projections of Starlight, but there isn’t anything very good about it, either. This is smooth, down-tempo electronica, music for people who for personal or (more likely) pharmacological reasons don’t particularly care about what they’re listening to. Sure, the album is impeccably assembled, and I’ll admit to liking some of the flourishes — the flamenco guitar that floats through “Writing on the Walls”, the low strings of “Darkest Hour” — but for all the musical competency on display here, there’s remarkably little heart.
