Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. struck gold with its "Winter Soldier Moment", but Gotham is fooling itself if it thinks it can merely replicate that show's success.

Aimed at giving the caped crusader the Smallville-esque treatment, the Gotham series follows Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) early days in the Gotham Police Department as he investigates the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne.

Despite a promising pilot episode, the first season of Gotham quickly fell off track in terms of quality—not to mention far short of the potential its source material bestows. It’s never been outright terrible, but the series’ habit of repeating its critical storytelling missteps is wearing out the patience and enthusiasm of many viewers. What’s more, the pattern bears a frustrating similarity to the growing pains that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. went through in its first season.

PopMatters takes a look at Fall 2014's new Tuesday shows that will be competing against TV’s highest-rated series.

Despite the old adage that Thursdays are “Must See TV”, you could make the argument that Tuesdays are now TV’s biggest night, due to such hits as NCIS, The Voice, and last year’s big breakout, About A Boy. But for every hit, there are plenty of misses, and last year’s cancellations left plenty of room on the schedule for new TV series. So which of these new shows is actually worth your time? And who dares to challenge TV’s highest-rated show? Read on to find out.

No show in recent memory has showcased such powerful and alluring women, and the performances of Jessica Lange, Emma Roberts, and Angela Bassett are pitch-perfect.

Near the end of 2013, two seminal television dramas are winding down: The Breaking Bad finalé aired at the end of September, while the once great Mad Men limps towards its final season. So what’s the best show on television now? Even though we’re only halfway through the current season of American Horror Story: Coven, let’s crown it now.

Is there anything on TV worth staying at home for? It’s not too late to find out!

The major TV networks have mostly given up on the concept of original television during Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.

Fridays have gotten a lot more interesting this year, however. Three new shows will make their debuts on the night, with several old favorites moving right next to them. Its one of the most unique nights of the week, with a wide variety of different reality shows, sitcoms, and dramas.

ABC revamps its schedule, FOX tries some new sitcoms on for size, the CW puts ita faith in monsters, and NBC makes one of the dumbest moves of the year.

Have you been meaning to look up all the new fall TV shows online, but haven’t gotten around to it yet? Maybe you’ve been waiting all summer long for one of those preview specials that the major TV networks used to air during weekends. Or perhaps you’ve already seen all these previews and would just like a little behind-the-scenes knowledge on what’s going to last longer than one season. Either way, PopMatters has got you covered.

We’re taking a look at Tuesday nights with trailers, series summaries, premiere dates, and reviews. NCIS will face some serious competition; ABC completely revamps its schedule, FOX tries some new sitcoms on for size, the CW puts its faith in monsters, and NBC makes one of the dumbest moves of the year by putting a weight-loss show on against TV’‘s heavy-hitters.
