Tonight’s episode of Supernatural featured two characters from the show’s past and a few new additions that we might see again in the future, but the plot was wrapped up so speedily that the whole thing just seemed like a missed opportunity. All in all, it continued season 12’s pattern of great character development and an interesting season-wide arc, but with half-baked, quickly resolved weekly plots.

As soon as Netflix approached the idea of rebooting the WB landmark series Gilmore Girls, the Internet went wild: hearts skipped beats and a dormant fandom began to awaken. Recently, across all 50 states, thousands of fans gathered to celebrate the anniversary of the Gilmore Girls premiere on 5 October 2000, at Luke’s Diner pop-up shops. Sixteen years, 153 episodes, and four highly-anticipated 90-minute episodes in the can, fans prepared for the 25 November launch through a unique and clever trip down memory lane.

For a show on the lowliest broadcast network with next to no coverage in the mainstream entertainment press, Supernatural has attained its status of an epic cult hit because of its exceedingly memorable characters. Looking beyond the core cast of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester, Castiel (Misha Collins), and Crowley (Mark Sheppard), the show built an universe full of lovable helpers (hunters, angels, prophets, etc.) and distinctive, occasionally likable villains (demons, monsters, gods, and witches). It’s an actor’s dream, where even guest stars that appear in a handful of episodes end up with their own fanbase and Funko Pop figurines.

The past three episodes of Supernatural have had little to do with season 11’s major strategy, but the latest episode’s definitely arc-centric. There were a few surprises (guess who’s back?), appearances from most of this season’s main characters, and even a rare exorcism duet from Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) Winchester, but the show still feels like it’s spinning its wheels.

Last year’s Super Bowl, with over 120 million viewers, was the most-watched event in the history of television. In recent years, the big game has expanded into a sort of non-denominational holiday, in which there’s something for nearly everybody. But how did this year’s game, the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl, fare? Read on to find out.

CBS’ coverage began at 1 PM CST with “Super Bowl Today”, their name for four hours of interviews, sportscaster analysis, trivia, and occasional on-field musical performances from artists as diverse as Sam Hunt and Seal.
