Stand-up comedian Lewis Black continues to make people laugh with his commentary on contemporary politics and trends. Black has invaded our television sets with his “Back in Black” segment on The Daily Show, one of only two segments that still air on the show since its creation. Starting in 1998, he has had three Comedy Central Presents specials, leading to two HBO specials, Black on Broadway and Red, White, and Screwed. In 2006, Black appeared in three films, Accepted, Man of the Year, and Unaccompanied Minors. Most recently, in February, 2007, he received the Grammy award for “Best Comedy Album” for The Carnegie Hall Performance.

Grammy-award winning band The Flaming Lips continue to draw in fans with their out-of-this-world concerts. Formed in 1983, the band consisted of Wayne Coyne, Mark Coyne, and Michael Ivins. Later, Mark dropped out of the band, and eventually, the Flaming Lips became their standard trio of Wayne Coyne on vocals and guitar, Michael Ivins on bass, and Steven Drozd on drums. In 1990, the band signed onto Warner Bros. Records, and in 1993, released Transmissions from the Satellite Heart with their first single, “She Don’t Use Jelly.” Later, in 1999, The Flaming Lips released The Soft Bulletin, an album that received massive acclaim. Since then, they have gone on to release two more critically acclaimed albums, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots and At War with the Mystics. On August 21, 2007, the band will release a DVD of their Oklahoma City concert, U.F.O.’s at the Zoo.

After a three year wait, the next installment in the Halo franchise is coming closer to its release. Halo 2 earned $125 million its first day and received many ratings above a 9/10 from major video game publications. With this extreme success, Halo 3, the last game of the Halo trilogy, has a bar set very high for itself, and Bungie Studios is quite aware. Halo 3 will be released September 25, 2007.
