Now a three piece band, Iceland’s Sigur Rós are coming to North America for a full fledged arena tour. You can pick up tickets from Ticketmaster for many of the dates that follow below from this link. If you aren’t already enticed, consider that the band could possibly preview material from their reported 2013 album (news on that is over at the band’s official site).
As announced in the press release, “The Beatles’ acclaimed original studio album remasters, released on CD in 2009 and in 2010 for digital download exclusively on iTunes, will make their long-awaited stereo vinyl debut on 12th November (13th November in North America).”
In celebration of this massive release, PopMatters has a chance to offer one (1) lucky winner a set of three remastered stereo vinyl records, Help!, Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and A Hard Day’s Night plus a bonus t-shirt!
Australia’s Xavier Rudd is coming to the US for a tour in October and November and PopMatters has partnered up with this surf/roots musician to give one lucky PopMatters reader a prize pack consisting of his album Spirit Bird on vinyl AND a limited edition t-shirt (you can check out the image of the shirt below).
For me, St. Germain’s 2000 album Tourist was one of several memorable electronic albums that were released near the turn of the millennium. Each unique in their own right, I count Tosca’s Suzuki, a project from Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber, and, a couple of years later, Jazzanova’s In Between as albums that stand alongside Tourist. But that’s neither here nor there since the excitement now is for the rerelease of Tourist for 2012, remastered for compact disc, vinyl and also available digitally. PopMatters is excited to offer our readers a chance to win this widely praised Blue Note record. Or if you want to know its yours, you can purchase the remastered version of Tourist from Amazon here.
