Seventh Swami: Here For Now

Many artists on the solid Muti Music label are quite genre specific. Typically, they are Tipper style breaks producers who make Tipper style breaks, for better or worse. That makes the debut full-length from new signee Seventh Swami that much more awesome. His mastery of form through such a variety of unique soundscapes is truly impressive, utilizing the best of atmospheric breaks, electronic hip-hop, and warped downtempo without appearing to stretch. Bits of traditional Japanese instrumentation occasionally float up through the digital distortion and perfectly tweaked samples. The whole thing is still a hair shy of the upper level where Tipper and edIT live, but its very, very close. He’s one more illusion destroying mushroom experience and another album away from greatness.
