Roman Revutsky is reportedly from Siberia, but it appears he hasn’t been isolated from music (if electro-pop or electroclash still counts for new music). “Hurry Up!” sounds like Fischerspooner if it was fronted by The Hives’ Pelle Almqvist. It’s a melancholic, electropop ditty that is pretty if delivered in limited doses. However, Revutsky goes into darker, Depeche Mode territory with “Gypsy Hell” which is okay but not spectacular as the vocals are basically buried deep inside the song. Perhaps the lowlight of the EP is “Blasphemy BSS” which is far too industrial and grainy to really develop into anything of substance. “Collateral” takes on more of a singer-songwriter or roots-oriented manner despite the electro backbeat moving things along. Revutsky certainly isn’t afraid to try different concepts, with the title track being one of the more satisfying numbers here — an ambient-cum-jungle tune that also has bits of pop and dance rock to boot in it.
