Tirra Lirra’s lengthy rhythmic excursions consist of thumping tom-toms, zen-like chants, heavily manipulated guitars, and modestly synthesized instrumentation, all melding together seamlesly to create a sonic palette which is slightly similar to the work of Animal Collective while also resembling some of the more experimental post-rock groups such as This Heat. “Pale”, the opening song to Breathe Bodies, exemplifies this style as the song stretches out to over 13-minutes long. The song does a great job of sustaining drawn-out riffs and movements without reverting to the repetitive nature of the more drone-related material of contemporary noise rock outfits. The remaining four tracks on the album fail to disappoint as the band consistently shows a penchant for mixing the experimental with the traditional.
