While there may be a substantial helping of something entertaining during this hefty four-week first course, don't be put off by such a portion size. To paraphrase an old saying, too many mediocre movies can definitely spoil the season-ing.

Most of the movie's philosophizing is boilerplate, about the distancing effects of plugging in. But its unpretentious earnestness gives Surrogates a mild kick.
