ST. LOUIS — Soul music purists got a special gift in 2008 when Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash reunited their trio, Labelle, after decades apart for a tour and album.

LaBelle, the solo artist, has news for fans: Labelle the group is going to do it again.

“We’re not finished,” she says. “We’ll do another CD and another tour.”

Until LaBelle, Hendryx and Dash join forces again, it’s LaBelle doing her own thing, just as she did after the trio broke up in 1976. Songs such as “New Attitude,” “If Only You Knew,” “Love, Need and Want You” and “If You Asked Me To” helped establish LaBelle as an R&B star.

Her last studio album before 2008’s Labelle release was 2006’s “The Gospel According to Patti LaBelle,” her long overdue gospel CD.

Next up for LaBelle, who has cookbooks and seasons of the TV One show “Living It Up with Patti LaBelle” under her belt, is a new album with Def Jam Records, along with promoting her line of bedding and Lady Marmalade spices and sauces.

“And I’m working on something really special for 2011,” she hints. “So many things are happening for me.”
