Are you a gambler? Are you a country music fan? Either way, you might be trying to get odds on the victory chances of the prime contenders in the Country Music Association Awards.

Find out Wednesday night if you made the right bet. Meanwhile, here are totally unscientific predictions on how many trophies the artists with the most nominations will take home.

Kenny Chesney

Number of nods: Seven - entertainer and male vocalist; single and music video for “Don’t Blink;” album for “Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates”; musical event for “Every Other Weekend” with Reba McEntire and “Shiftwork” with George Strait.

Sure things: One, maybe two. He’ll probably win entertainer, since he continues to tour incessantly and remains the leading ticket draw in country music. The other award is a toss-up. He could either take the musical event with Strait or music video for “Don’t Blink.”

George Strait

Number of nods: Five - entertainer and male vocalist; single for “I Saw God Today;” album for “Troubadour”; musical event for “Shiftwork” with Chesney.

Sure things: Maybe one. King George just isn’t the awards darling he used to be. His best bet is to ride Chesney’s wave for “Shiftwork.”

Alan Jackson

Number of nods: Four - male vocalist; album for “Good Time”; song and music video for “Good Time.”

Sure things: Maybe one. Jackson is another one who isn’t the awards darling anymore. (He wasn’t that much of one then, either.) But since he wrote every track on “Good Time” and it’s a great disc, he’s a contender for album of the year.

Brad Paisley

Number of nods: Four - entertainer and male vocalist; song for “Letter to Me;” and music video for “Waitin’ On a Woman” with Andy Griffith.

Sure things: Maybe two. Male vocalist is not out of the question. He’s had a strong year. Music video could happen, too, especially because Griffith is in it. Paisley always makes creative clips.

Sugarland

Number of nods: Four - entertainer and vocal duo; single for “Stay;” musical event for “Life In a Northern Town” with Little Big Town and Jake Owen; music video for “Stay.” Lead singer Jennifer Nettles is also up for song of the year for writing “Stay.”

Sure things: Three. Vocal duo is all but engraved. Sorry, Brooks & Dunn! Then there’s “Stay,” which gave the pair much-needed artistic depth. It was a head-turning hit. Expect wins in both categories.
