There were few surprises in the announcement of the Fox 2009-2010 schedule made Monday: Big ratings draws like “Bones,” “24,” “House,” “American Idol” and “The Simpsons” will be back.

The network also is keeping its Saturday night reality package of “COPS” and “America’s Most Wanted.”

The closest thing to a surprise is that “Fringe” and “Dollhouse,” which have struggled in the ratings, will get a second season. “Dollhouse” will continue to air on Fridays. “Fringe” moves to the tough 9 p.m. time slot on Thursdays where it is expected to face “Grey’s Anatomy” and “CSI.”

Other shows returning include: “American Dad,” “Family Guy,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” “House,” “Kitchen Nightmares,” “Lie To Me,” “So You Think You Can Dance” and “‘Til Death.” New seasons for “American Idol” and “24” will begin in January. That’s also when the new show “Human Target” will debut.

As anticipated, “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” was canceled, along with “Prison Break” and “Do Not Disturb.”

“King of the Hill” was canceled, but a final 13 episodes will air during the 2009-2010 season.

There is no word on the fate of “Moment of Truth,” “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” and “Don’t Forget the Lyrics.” All three shows are on the Fox schedule for this summer.

The fall Fox lineup includes six new series: three one-hour dramas, two comedies and a new animated show. The new shows are:

—“The Cleveland Show”: Animated offering from the producers of “Family Guy.”

—“Brothers”: The comedy stars Michael Strahan (“Fox NFL Sunday”) and Daryl “Chill” Mitchell (“Ed”). A former NFL star returns to his mother’s house to get his life on track.

—“Glee”: The Ryan Murphy series about a ragtag high school glee club.

—“The Human Target”: Mark Valley stars in the action series based on the DC Comics graphic novel. It launches Jan. 17.

—“Past Life”: Kelli Giddish and Nicholas Bishop deal with mysteries that must be solved in both the past and present.

—“Sons of Tucson”: A schemer (Tyler Labine) is hired to impersonate the father of three brothers whose father is in jail.

A late-night talk program, “The Wanda Sykes Show,” will begin at 11 p.m. Nov. 7. That Saturday time slot became available when Fox canceled “MadTV.”
