Named the best animated feature of 2007 by critics from New York and Los Angeles and an Oscar nominee for best foreign film, Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud’s movie is based on Satrapi’s autobiographical graphic novels about growing up in revolutionary Iran. The DVD includes both the original French version, featuring the vocal talents of Chiara Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve, and an English-language version, also featuring Mastroianni and Deneuve, but adding Sean Penn and Gena Rowlands. Bonus features include a commentary by Satrapi and others on select scenes, documentaries on making both the French and English versions and a press conference at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

After his characters in “Independence Day” and “The Day After Tomorrow” battled futuristic aliens, tidal waves and frozen temperatures, director Roland Emmerich looks back in time - way back - for another fantasy. Here, a young hunter (Steven Strait) 12,000 years ago must fight evil warlords and prehistoric predators to save his kidnapped love (Camilla Belle) and the future of humankind. The DVD includes an extended ending and 10 minutes of deleted scenes.
IN BRUGES

Even if you’re tired of movies about hit men, this witty and violent story from writer-director Martin McDonagh works because of the interaction between Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. The Irish actors costar as gangsters who have been ordered by their scary boss (Ralph Fiennes) to lay low in the medieval Belgium city of Bruges after a hit goes terribly wrong. Bonus features include deleted scenes, a gag reel, and four documentaries that explore the making of the movie in picturesque, canal-filled Bruges.

Ryan Reynolds stars as the father of an ultra-inquisitive 10-year-old daughter (Abigail Breslin) who questions him incessantly about his love life before he was married, and he responds with a series of anecdotes about his most important early relationships. The DVD includes a commentary by Reynolds and director Adam Brooks, deleted scenes, two documentaries (“Creating a Romance” and “The Changing Times of ‘Definitely, Maybe’”) and more.

The three Grace children - Jared, Simon and Mallory - discover strange creatures living in the old house their family just moved into in this fantasy-adventure directed by Mark Waters. The single-disc edition comes in both fullscreen and widescreen versions; the two-disc Special Collector’s Edition includes deleted scenes, six extra features that offer behind-the-scenes looks at the making of the movie, its cast and its characters, and “Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide.”

Adam Carolla stars in (and wrote) this story about a 40-year-old former boxer with a dull, unfulfilled life who returns to competitive boxing for a chance to make the U.S. Olympic team. Special features include a commentary by Carolla and co-writer Kevin Hench, deleted scenes and outtakes, a conversation with Carolla and costar Oswaldo Castillo and more.
