Coyote Waits by Tony Hillerman
While the solution to the mystery lies within Navajo culture and several of the main characters are Native Americans, one finishes the book feeling as though the culture has been more alluded to than explored.

The Sinister Pig by Tony Hillerman
If the way things work in Washington are truly as Mr. Hillerman describes them, the book, although fiction, will surely make many readers want to just vote out the whole group of politicians and bureaucrats and start over.
