Download a new song by the Mickey Hart Band and help raise money for people affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The Mickey Hart Band has released a new song, “Jersey Shore”, to benefit Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

Those who make a donation will also receive two bonus hours of music including the full length performance of the Mickey Hart Band Live on the Jersey Shore (August 17, 2012), and tracks from the band’s latest album Mysterium Tremendum.

“I was a kid from Coney Island, Atlantic Beach and Far Rockaway,” says Hart. “The Shore was the totem, the centerpiece, a physical representation of community spirit for many generations. [...] It’s time to rebuild what we’ve lost.  Let’s bring back the beauty.  Your help is needed now, more than ever.  Please give what you can.”

100% of the proceeds of “Jersey Shore” will go to Clean Ocean Action, who have organized over 3,800 volunteers since November 2012.

Daytrotter has also rolled out a Coachella 2013 Playlist, with the entire lineup represented in past Daytrotter sessions. The festival is planned over two weekends to capitalize on the crowds, April 12 - 14 and April 19 - 21 (info at Coachella.com).

Of course, some groups overlap with Daytrotter’s Bonnaroo 2013 Playlist, reflecting the busy touring schedules of Grizzly Bear, Wild Nothing, the Lumineers, Tame Impala and others. Check out the sleepy sounds of the already buzzed about Jake Bugg and an alarmingly stripped down version of Two Door Cinema Club’s “Something Good Can Work”. As always, there’s plenty more where all this comes from by visiting individual sessions by the artists in the archives—just pony up that $2 a month subscription fee.

It gets funkier than "Suit & Tie".

After more than half a decade of waiting and a preparation process steeped in secrecy and seclusion, your patience has been rewarded. No, I’m not talking about a new pope—it’s the new Justin Timberlake album, The 20/20 Experience, available for exclusive streaming at iTunes a week before its March 19th release on RCA. It’s been over six years since 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds, and with the release of “Suit & Tie” in January, Timberlake has begun repositioning as what Buzzfeed‘s Matthew Perpetua terms “an upscale pop star” who “only makes music when he feels truly inspired.” The new album clocks in at just over 70 minutes spread out among ten tracks, which means—yes—an average track length of over seven minutes. It’s worth it, if only for the largely instrumental funk breakdowns that seem to come into play around the four-minute mark on most tracks.

Here’s the stream.

Buzzin' Fly Records, the much-respected progressive house and electronic label, will stop releasing new material and become "archive only", according to founder Ben Watt.

Watt, who also co-founded the English indie-pop duo Everything but the Girl in 1982, started Buzzin’ Fly in 2003. Over the last decade, the label has put out records by Justin Martin, Pete Heller, and many others, as well as Watt himself.

Buzzin’ Fly will for now remain in existence as an archive label, to keep the back catalog in print, and will also release some retrospective packages via digital media. Strange Feeling, the label’s less beat-driven subsidiary, will continue to release any new material from Watt’s partner and ex-bandmate Tracey Thorn.

From rhythm and melody to voice shredding vocals and bubbling energy, this song is a slice of instant dance/rock perfection.

Underground Lovers hail from Australia even though they have often been mistaken for a British band, given that second album was released in the UK ahead of Australia. I get the confusion on an aural level as well, as Underground Lovers’s garagey pop has some serious dancey bass and drum beats. It’s an infectious sound one hears more in British rock than anywhere else. “Au Pair” is a case in point and it’s simply irresistible. From rhythm and melody to voice shredding vocals and bubbling energy, this song is a slice of instant dance/rock perfection. It’s got me sitting on the edge of my seat for the release of the group’s seventh album, Weekend, releasing 16 April (US) and 5 April (Australia) on Australia’s Rubber Records.
