“Released April 3 on New York based-indie Camera Records, Kiss The Crystal Flake is the new full studio album by California psych-soul rockers. It is the follow up to the acclaimed Red Tandy EP (2005) and the first full album for the Hips since 2001’s Green Hills of the Earth. Featuring 12 new songs, Kiss The Crystal Flake reintroduces the world to the Mother Hips’ own brand of California rock, blending a natural psychedelia with their own 21st century musicianship and songwriting.”—Camera Records
“Re-mixed commercials from the 70’s and more in this long-awaited instrumental solo debut, brought to you by half of People Under the Stairs, Thes One.”—Tres Records”

Martin Sexton —"Wild Angels"
From Seeds on Kitchen Table
Renowned as a die-hard road warrior, Sexton has traveled the globe with his guitar slung on his back and a heart full of soul. His songs are intricate and spirited… His fans range from teenage students to jocks to musicians, from the East Village to Wall Street, tradesmen to doctors, black, white, young and old, all singing together in three-part harmony. To see the crowd at a Martin Sexton concert is to witness a cross-section of America.
Air —"Once Upon a Time"
From Pocket Symphony on Astralwerks
Now entering the 10th year of a highly illustrious career that has seen the band grow in stature to become one of the most instantly recognizable names in music, Parisian duo Air (Nicolas Godin and JB Dunckel) return with Pocket Symphony, a career masterpiece and their most seductive and accomplished work to date. Jean-Benoît Dunckel and Nicolas Godin are modernists. Air embrace the new. Their music is intellectually stimulating yet intuitively simple; elegiac and triumphal; beyond pop and yet resolutely of it, too.
Prosser —"I Met a Girl"
From Prosser: Self-Titled on spinART Prosser is the new project from Eric Woodruff (formerly of Bellingham, WA, space rock band Delay). His self-titled debut release is a melding of Indie Rock and Alt-Country, with some psychedelic and folk influences thrown in for good measure. Fans of Nick Drake, Cracker, Elliot Smith, Wilco, and heartbreak-induced whiskey drinking music will not be able to resist.
Arcade Fire —"Black Mirror"
From Neon Bible on Merge
The Arcade Fire spent most of 2006 holed up in a small church in a small town outside of Montreal. They were recording their second album Neon Bible. It was a slow year, mostly.
“Chicken on a Raft is Thom Moore (Moore Brothers, Nedelle and Thom) and Tommy Carns (Billy Talbott Band). Sharing a mutual love for traditional folk music, the duo began playing music in the tradition of the Watersons, reviving folk music culled from wax cylinders and the Library of Congress. Their debut album is a collection of American Traditionals, ballads, and popular tunes that have passed down from generation to generation, each iteration providing it’s own input to the meaning of a lyric and melody. They tell stories of loves lost, political intrigue, and lingering mysteries that are as true and applicable today as when first sung by a long forgotten minstrel. ”—Antenna Farm Records

Billy Martin and John Medeski
Crustaceatron [MP3] from Mago
Organist John Medeski and drummer Billy Martin celebrate almost two decades since their first musical meeting (a duet session at Martin’s Brooklyn loft back in 1989). Finally, they made the record they vowed to do before their popular band, Medeski Martin and Wood, kept them so busy. The first and last tracks are expansive free-flowing spontaneous compositions they do with such grace and passion, but the majority of the tracks are filled with head-nodding booty-shaking grooves that only they could have created.
