Scene, Should Be HeardMixtape Confessions[24 October 2007] Mixtape ConfessionsGone Festin'Ben Rubenstein28.Jul.08 Yes, communing with thousands of music fans at summer festivals is fun...for a while. But then it becomes a group of people whom you really didn't plan on spending your weekend with, unless you typically hang out with stoned 16-year olds. Getting SchooledBen Rubenstein01.Jul.08 More than the usual ABCs, this school clearly believes in arts education, regularly spotlighting student performers at its assemblies -- and these kids are acquiring real musical skills. I'm With the BandBen Rubenstein27.May.08 When I started writing about music, I didn't realize that it would mean I'd become "the enemy". Ever since moving to Chicago from another unmentioned Midwest city/town I have been continually impressed with the quality of music that hails from Chicago. It’s not just the number of venues and summer festivals, but the number of quality musicians and bands that may never get any notoriety outside of Chicago. In Chicago the concerts featuring local bands can rival the national acts that are coming through town. It’s a great place to see a show.
