Patrick Wolf

Now Hear This: Patrick Wolf [London]

[26 February 2007]

by James Evans

Flamboyant, extravagant, even audacious, Patrick Wolf's public image may have garnered him some notoriety, but it's his skill with songcraft that has won him praise. Now Wolf stands poised to tackle the mainstream with his forthcoming The Magic Position.

A thoughtful, nicely written piece about the ever-amazing Patrick Wolf.  His emergence is so exciting, as you say, because he is a true artist whose work can be both honest and appealing.  I would add that in addition to the depth he brings to his music, his versatility is just staggering.  He’s a brilliant lyricist, a strong singer, a versatile musician and composer, and a phenomenal performer (not to mention an articulate interviewee).  It may yet be early in his career, but I dare say we could be watching a legend in the making.
