Inside a Chicago Fan's Super Bowl Scuffle

[7 March 2007]

by Chris Catania

Chicago sports fans suffer from a chronic self-induced nostalgic obsession, passed down from generation-to-generation, which destroys any chance for realistic expectations.

Wow, I will never, ever understand why people consider sports moments to be “life moments” for them, or why a non-player would ever be in a “depressing gridlock” over a game.  The mystical devotion to sports is something I find really confounding and, to be honest, pathetic.
