Under the heavy, grey tread of Stasi control, made more brutal by the friends, family and neighbors recruited to spy on one another, Art, though trampled, will send out tendrils of subversive inspiration.

There is one big mistake in this review. The main character (the writer) is not Paul Hauser - it is Georg Dreyman. Paul Hauser is his dissident friend.
