The format forced the issue among cult and commercial products. And TV on DVD highlighted the cream of the creative, forward thinking crop.

Good list. 2 cult shows that were awesome and cancelled too quickly for my taste that I wish would’ve made the list thoug.

Sports Night and The adventures of Briscoe County Jr.

Both were fun quirky shows. With Sports Night also packing an emotional wallop on a very regular basis. Briscoe was just your typical Western/sci-fi/action/comedy starring Bruce Campbell. It doesn’t get much cooler then those. (Maybe Firefly or Buffy, could challenge, but they thankfully made the list).

Wonderful lists.  However, where is South Park?  Family Guy is included, but South Park is not???

Wait.  No Six Feet Under? Anywhere? Seriously?

that’s the sound of my heart shattering into a million pieces.

“Law & Order: Criminal Intent” Season 2, beats any “NYPD Blue” season all to hell.

I’d put “Carnivāle seasons 1 & 2 on one of the lists too.

I really don’t get the US love for MI-5 (or Spooks as it’s called in the UK). It’s a distinctly average show, filled with pretty young people in offices decked out in a way that would look more at home in an advertising agency than a government institution.

It certainly doesn’t belong on a list called ‘Beyond the Envelope’, especially considering some of the other UK shows that could have made the list, like ‘The Cops’, ‘Outlaws’, ‘The Thick of It’, ‘Conviction’, ‘Buried’ or even (though not entirely to my taste) ‘Five Days’- which at least tried to do something new with within the framework of a murder investigation.

Like ‘Arrested Development’ it’s sometimes worth looking at the British shows that didn’t get the attention they deserved.

How come ‘Married With Children’ didn’t get a mention?
