A lot of good movies are still missing from DVD. Here is a list of 25 that PopMatters feels have been unceremoniously left to simply fade away.

Great call on Ambersons! There is a rumor, though, that it might get released this year. Lets all keep our fingers crossed.

And another that needs to be released ASAP (preferably by the Criterion Co.) is Ingmar Bergman’s Face to Face!

Tomás Gutiérrez Alea (Guantanamera, Fresa y chocolate) put out the brilliant Memorias del Subdesarrollo (Memories of Underdevelopment) in 1968. It is great subversive Cuban cinema that has languished on overpriced VHS for too long.

Milestone Films finally got around to putting out The Ultimate Edition of Mikhail Kalatozov’s Soy Cuba (I am Cuba) last year, so here’s hoping that will generate interest…
