Quentin Huff's top-ten list of mixtapers, hustlers, protesters, emcees, and self-proclaimed kings finds hip-hop very much alive and well in 2006.

Thank you for giving props to the Roots.  The album got good reviews but when it didn’t do Hova numbers, most people (critics included) just forgot.

Only 2 MCs have ever given me goose bumps...NaS adn Black Thought.  And those bumps are all over this album...from “Don’t Feel Right” until the end.  Surreal, political, dark and fierce, Black Thought brings the heat.  And the way the music flows non-stop, through paranoid landscapes and psycho R&B;song fragments, paints a vivid picture of the US circa ‘06 while leaving just enough negative space to make return trips a necessity.

Between Game Theory and the Wire a new, less glamorous and more realistic picture of the streets is being painted.
