The naked truth about Sedaris

Poor Heard needs to get a life; or rather, “get life”.  Sedaris’ work is about how he thinks about life. We all “think about” life differently than we live it.  It be damned dull if we didn’t.

Of course Sedaris exaggerates and embellishes.  It is in this realm of Sedaris’ funny, pointed, storytelling manner that we can relate.

I just love how it’s okay for Sedaris to exploit and make fun of the mentally ill and people are more concerned about protecting this privileged little Raleighwood-ite than standing up for the mentally ill folks he uses as slap stick props.

Then again, no one gives a damn about Dix Hill anyway.  Isn’t it being turned into a park? Or, isn’t the land being sold to developers who will turn the land into a giant string of offices?

Yeah, that’s what I thought.

What a disgrace that people who don’t have a voice—the mentally ill—are rendered even more voiceless by someone with a voice capable of attacking the stigma of mental illness.

I’d type more, but I have to run along to my “Friends of Dix Hill” meeting.  We’re meeting in Cameron Village.
