Video-game ratings and artistic freedom

If I want to decapitate people in the comfort of my bedroom shouldn’t that be my decision over ESRB’s or yours?

The worry over the infringement on artistic (term, admittedly, used reluctantly) freedom is in the underlying assumption that ESRB or society or whatever should have any say in what producers produce or consumers consume.

The advancement of both art and freedom over the course of history has necessarily crossed many lines. And been censored. Artistic freedom should mean absolute freedom in every direction. And freedom to engage with such art.
