It is a little surprising to see the silliness that leads to Crystal Skull's gargantuan climax, a series of antics simultaneously hyper and enervated.

Wow. Reading WAY too much into an intentionally over-the-top action film franchise that exists solely to entertain. It reflects a way of thinking in the specific eras it displays. It reflects the Saturday morning serials. And that’s about it.
Going to a theater with a stopwatch? Doesn’t he have anything better to do? No wonder he doesn’t like these films.
ALL film is manipulation. Long shots, short shots, mid shots, close-ups, reactions, etc. All manipulation - that is the point.
I’ll freely admit the Indy films have “No way.” moments - but that is half the fun. If you are determined to have no fun, then why do you see these films? To complain? How can you possibly write a fair review when you aren’t even making the pretense to being objective?
Indy is white because Harrison Ford is white. The role was written with Harrison in mind. The women are not helpless, they do quite a bit. And your rationalization goes right out the window when you don’t acknowledge Else as being a strong woman. Opponent, yes - but you claim the roles go downhill after Marian.
I get really tired of people who don’t have a legitimate complaint or criticism about something, so they just bad mouth it for no good reason. Your opinions are ridiculous - don’t look for meaning too deeply in a popcorn flick.
