I wish PopMatters would do more articles on how this extreme genre ("torture porn") exploits our cultural sacred cow: women (and girls) are—somehow—responsible for any emotional distress we experience in life. Again, unlike racists we don’t claim The Enemy is out to physically attack or even kill us, just that they hurt our feelings.
If this fictional psycho-killer is lame as hell, we’re much worse, for whenever an actual psycho-killer appears we always come up with the same pathetic excuse: he felt bad.
Our celebration of male hyper-sensitivity and cowardice is horribly embarrassing (see: Eminem).
