I can only hope that the plot picks up a little more; I was mostly just dazzled by the visuals and the dialogue in the pilot. What it reminded me of, more than anything else, is the French movie Amelie! The narrator, the vibrant colors, the strange characters, the flashbacks to childhood… sooo similar!
