Cynthia G. Mason

Quitter's Claim

(High Two)

Cynthia G. Mason seems very smart and has a pretty voice, she also plays acoustic guitar nicely. However, I guess maybe folk music is just not working for me right now or something, because all these songs sound the same and none of them are all that memorable. “Fits and Starts” seems to break the mold just a little bit with a spiky little guitar motif, and I like how she leads with her voice on “Nerve”. Other than that, though, I’m just not feeling this. But it might be my fault, because it really is all very pretty and stately and calming, like chamomile tea, or a nap.
