PopMatters Interviews Editor

Doo-Wop Forever, Volume 2 has plenty of great vocal music, but little that the average music fan would recognize. The collection’s geared for more intense doo-wop fans, and features some otherwise very difficult to find songs. A few notable groups show up here, such as the Flamingos and the Five Satins, but they don’t stand out above acts that made only a single or two before disappearing. Over the course of 40 well-mastered tracks, the compilation covers a wide range of sounds within doo-wop, from the ballads to the near-rockers, in an enjoyable sequence. Some highlights to look for include the Edsel’s “Rama Lama Ding Dong”, the Eternals’ “Babalu’s Wedding Day”, and the Nightcaps’ “Wine Wine Wine.”
