Lou Barlow
Goodnight Unknown
(Merge)
Releasing: 6 October (US)

Lou Barlow (of Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr.) will be releasing his new solo album, Goodnight Unknown, on October 6, and to commemorate the occasion, Merge Records released this documentary on the making of the record. It’s 30 minutes of pretty rare insight into the man’s creative process, at times brooding, manic, obnoxious, euphoric—regardless of the outcome, his personal investment is indisputable. Shorter behind-the-scenes installments will be up in the coming weeks.

Barlow will be touring with Dinosaur Jr. this fall and performing an opening set of his solo material, backed by Mike Watt-backers the Missingmen. Tour dates after the jump.

Post-Sebadoh, post-Folk Implosion, Lou Barlow's first official solo release comes with a wealth of sheen, but fails to meet the standards of his indie legacy.
