Kanye was right to bumrush Taylor Swift?
He wasn’t at the VMA’s as Lane Brown explains in a recent New York magazine article. But Brown also latches onto a good point, which is that Kanye had a point when he made an interruption so rude that it made Obama-heckler Joe Wilson look sane. The VMA’s are kinda B.S. and Taylor Swift really didn’t deserve the award over Beyonce and the fact of the matter is that nowadays, the VMA’s mostly exist for incidents like this (remember Eminem’s stunt on the last show?). Then again, how many entertainment award shows really pick the best all the time? And with the advent of YouTube and amateur video, how relevant are the VMA’s otherwise?

That category was voted on by the viewers. She sells the most records, so it makes sense she won. The fact that she did or didn’t deserve it is irrelevant.

My conspiracy theory side says it was a tactic to ensure high initial ratings for Jay Leno’s new show that debuted the following night, and featured Kanye as a guest. Kanye being Kanye was the perfect tool for such a stunt.

If the category was voted on by the viewers then Mtv is becoming nickelodeon. Taylor’s song is catchy to sixteen year old girls, it is what is wrong with the music industry right now. Everyone is making ringtone songs right now and the industry is being ruined by teenagers. The real Question is should an award show give the fans an opportunity to vote when only one demographic will be voting. I agree with Kanye 100% and lets not forget that he won an award he felt he did not deserve and gave it to outkast because he felt so strongly about it. Just look at Taylor’s face when they announced it and she did not even believe she should have got it. I think he should have had more tact about it and maybe twitter it from his seat and do some post show interviews, but at the same time Taylor should have been honest and admitted and Beyonce should have won. That’s what I feel anyways, not that it matters.
