Tickley Feather - "Don't Call, Marylin" (MP3)

Thursday, Oct 15, 2009

You would be right to expect something a little more than “out there” from Philadelphia’s Annie Sachs, what with a name like Tickley Feather and all. She conjures up strange pop song-spells in step with her Paw Tracks cohorts, Black Dice and Animal Collective. Her upcoming album, Hors D’Ouevres, will be out next Tuesday, October 20th. Listen to “Don’t Call, Marylin”, a lo-fi pastiche of nursery rhyme rhythm, strung out keyboards, and watery-alien vocals, and check out her tour dates while you’re at it.

Tickley Feather's eponymous debut is a decisively mixed bag of crazed Casio noodling, but then again, upsetting expectations is exactly what sophomore albums are for.
