Call for Papers: PopMatters Celebrates The Jam in Massive Special Section

k-os: 24.Mar.2010 - New York

Monday, Mar 29, 2010
k-os returned to the states, finally, for a big night at LPR in NYC.

Despite issues entering the country earlier in the month, k-os made his first New York City appearance in over three years, landing safely in the arms of the mystic le Poisson Rouge. While never truly maintaining a huge mainstream following in the States, the Canadian mic mangler had no trouble filling the downtown nightclub with die hard fans.

The show started right on schedule as k-os hopped on stage to play a string of throwback classics like “The Seekwill”, “Valhalla”, and NYC crowd favorite, “Superstar”. Continuing on through the set, we got to hear several tracks from last year’s, Yes!, including “Astronaut” and “Burning Bridges”. Though the album was only release months ago in the United States, it was great to see how familiar the crowd was with the material, flawlessly chanting along to every word.

Closing out the set, k-os decided to jump into the catchy “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman”, which had everyone jumping for joy. As quickly as he left the stage, k-os returned to perform two more bangers with his wonderful 5-piece band, before concluding an epic night.

Yes! is another chance for the multi-talented k-os to display just how many genres he can bend and mash together without losing you for a second.
