Leaked from the much-anticipated new LCD Soundsystem album, This Is Happening, “Drunk Girls” has been burning up the Internet since the weekend. If this track and a snippet of another new song “Pow Pow” are any indication, the new album finds James Murphy and co. no worse for wear, despite what was apparently a grueling recording/producing process for Murphy and rumors of uncertainty over the band’s long-term future. “Drunk Girls” is the kind of hybrid electro-punk single you’d expect from LCD, something in between a boozy booty-shaking anthem for chin-stroking indies and some subliminal braininess for the clubbing set.
