Emulating the heart of the Midwest, Americana darlings the Giving Tree Band combine pastoral, old-time indie-folk with heartfelt narrative lyrics. The band takes their rustic sound to heart with a complete eco-friendly approach to recording, touring and performing music. Their last two albums were recorded via renewable energy at the band’s home studio, and packaged with 100 % recycled materials. Adding to their green efforts, many of the band’s instruments were hand crafted from reclaimed wood and naturally fallen trees. The acoustic octet released their third studio album The Joke, The Threat & The Obvious 21 September, 2010 on Crooked Creek Records, which debuted at number 40 on the Americana Airplay Charts.
