Brooklyn punks the Men will release their fourth studio album, New Moon, via Sacred Bones on March 4, which falls almost exactly a year after eclectic 2012 breakthrough Open Your Heart. For the recording process, the quartet ditched Brooklyn for a house in upstate Big Indian, New York. “Entering with only the most skeletal sketches, the house was selected as an incubator for its technical limitations, 32-hour orbit and predisposal to celestial intervention,” notes the band. The album also includes “piano, mandolin, harmonica, four-part vocal harmonies and even no-input harsh noise.”
The Men’s new single, the aptly titled “Electric”, contains little hint of piano or mandolin. It’s a fuzz-driven, brash rocker of a track that hearkens back to the one-two punch of Open Your Heart‘s opening tracks, “Turn It Around” and “Animal”.
“Electric” will be released as a single on January 22 via 7” vinyl. Stream the track below.
