Since he can and has summed up it perfectly well, you should see Greg Sandoval’s CNet article about how Google is becoming a music contender.  He wisely notes not only how well positioned the company is now (especially with YouTube) but also the possible pitfalls that are coming up for them (fighting with Warner Bros) and the fact that the big labels don’t want Google to get too powerful, otherwise they’ll be in the same situation with Apple (which up until now could dictate to the labels about how to sell music).
