Is print media scared of freebies?

You decide.  This is a great article that’s making the Net round, which was unfortunately killed by the otherwise stalwart L.A. Times, which came out eventually in the L.A Observer: The Big Picture.  The record industry and newspaper industry are going through similar headaches about how to survive and Patrick Goldstein’s column wisely noted that they need to think more progressively and creatively while also learning lessons both good and bad from each other.
